I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Colossians 2:2 (The Message Bible)
The Desert Cross Quilter’s armoire is freshly stocked with a generous donation of colorful fabric to be pieced and sewed together into quilts. Fabric of many colors resides side by side on the shelves to be woven into a colorful tapestry of love that will bring comfort, warmth, and security to people in war torn areas of the globe. The quilts that are shared with these folks help them to know the love of God shared from hearts and hands that care to hearts and hands in need.
As a community of faith we are woven into a tapestry of love, much like this fabric of many colors. We are different people with different backgrounds, gifts, situations, and opinions, yet we gather together to serve and share God’s love. We worship, pray, and learn about God’s word so we are in touch with everything there is to know of God. Which is why faith formation is a lifelong process!
The Apostle Paul writes to a struggling community to remind them to keep their eyes on Jesus. To be steadfast in their call to love and serve and not be deterred from the path of mission. He writes encouraging words that we all need to hear in Colossians 2: “Know that I’m on your side, right alongside you. You’re not in this alone. My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. Everything of God gets expressed in Jesus, so you can see and hear him clearly.”
Embrace these words for you as we navigate this messy life. We have received Christ Jesus, and we know our call to serve him in thought, word, and deed. All we do, no matter how we do it, can weave us into a beautiful tapestry of love in touch with our suffering world that shares comfort, peace, and security in colorful ways!
Shine your colors, Pastor Andrea
