The Desert Cross Thanksgiving Food Drive is beginning at the Gilbert and the Tempe Campuses.

The Gilbert Campus is having a Food and Blanket Drive that begins at the Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 19th from 5 - 7 pm. “Bring a food item, get a treat!”

Please bring non-perishable food items.  As the temperatures drop our neighbors also need fleece blankets to stay warm.

The Tempe Campus Food Drive starts this coming weekend, October 5th and 6th. Please put non-perishable items in the receptacle labeled “Thanksgiving Food Drive” in the Narthex. On the Tempe campus only, turkeys will be collected and donated on the last weekend of the drive, November 16th and 17th.  (We have no storage space to store them earlier).

Thanksgiving drives on both campuses will continue until November 17th.

People from both churches are welcome to participate in either campus drive.

Non perishable food items that are most needed:

  • Canned vegetables
  • canned fruit
  • canned meats such as tuna fish and Vienna sausages
  • canned soup
  • canned beans
  • pasta
  • rice
  • dried beans
  • peanut butter
  • cereal

Special holiday season food items are appreciated, such as:

  • turkey dressing
  • canned sweet potatoes
  • dehydrated mashed potatoes.

Monetary donations will also be accepted so the receiving organizations can purchase other most needed items.

Organizations receiving the food and blankets will be Concordia Charter School families, Kyrene Resource Center, Lutheran Social Services, Matthew’s Crossing, and the Salvation Army.

We are grateful for your generosity for those less fortunate.  Thanks so much!
