Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining. 1 John 2:8
I love baking custom birthday cakes and decorating them with themes unique to each of my family members. I chose the moon and the stars to greet our daughter's 22nd year since we spent the pandemic together watching the night sky in wonder. Lots of changes are ahead and soon we will be empty nesters again. Our lives and our schedules will once again change. So many things in our lives are new now that we can venture out into the world.
It’s the same in the church. Lots of things are new at Desert Cross! We created new, hybrid worship with in-person and virtual options via our new live stream, new relationships are being built with Pastor Thadd, we had our first hybrid council meeting with zoom and in-person attendance, lots of baptisms and visitors, new theater lights, new summer Tempe worship times, we are back in the offices, small groups and youth are meeting in-person, I-HELP is back on campus, our doors are open to 12 step program meetings, and basketball is back in the gym. This all fills us with joy!
The newest news:
These are all lights shining out of the darkness of the pandemic. The true light which continued to shine throughout our time apart is Jesus who commands us to love each other in the good times and in the bad times. Our light is shining brightly as we reflect the love of Jesus into the world in new ways.
What is new with you? Drop me a line and share your news. I’d love to hear from you. And please continue to stay tuned for what’s new at Desert Cross!
