Be still know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
The sun just came out after two days of steady rain. In Phoenix rain is a blessing. It’s a novelty rather than a given. The cloudy skies are a welcome change in the valley of the sun, and the shadows provide a dramatic backdrop to the changing leaves and bright flowers.
After 24 hours of a soft, “midwesternish” rain, the plants in my yard were refreshed, brighter, and beautiful. It made me think of how God’s grace refreshes us and makes us new. If you look closely, you may even see water droplets on this Cascabela thevetia in my backyard commonly called a Be-Still Tree. When I took this pic, I didn’t know it was called a Be-Still Tree. I just appreciated the peaceful scene in my backyard. I just felt thankful. And the birds seemed thankful too as they came out to play and catch bugs up from the wet ground. The scene brought me a feeling of peace and well-being. A Be-Still moment.
May you blessed by some Be-Still moments in this season of Advent.
Peace, Pastor Andrea
