For by grace you have been saved … it is the gift of God … Ephesians 2:8
This message written in chalk on a graffiti wall in Phoenix jumped out at me! It is solid gold: “You deserve the love you think you have to earn.” Do you believe that? You deserve the love you think you have to earn. That’s what God says to us in Jesus. It is loud and clear. Can you hear it? Messages from culture tell us that we must earn anything that comes our way including love. Yet God’s word tells us a different story of unconditional love. We are recipients of the gift of love free and clear. This is exactly what the Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:8 which was Martin Luther’s joie de vivre.
This Lent we will listen deeply to God’s word that promises us we are the recipients of an eternal love gift. Will you listen with me? I hope our faith will deepen as we trust God’s grace and that this will be the loudest message in our ears and on our hearts. God’s love is a gift more precious than solid gold! I pray that we will each be a billboard of that message so others might see it, hear it, and experience it from each of us as the hands and feet of Christ in this world.
By the grace of God, Pastor Andrea
