You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11
As I watch the verdins building a nest in our toothpick cactus, it’s “empty nester” season at my home. The house is pretty quiet these days. I am learning to enjoy moments of silence, the birds singing in my backyard, and meals for two on the patio. On holidays like Easter lots of memories with our children flood my mind. It is with nostalgia I remember days of helping little hands dye Easter eggs, the Easter bunny delivering baskets of candy, and an egg hunt on Sunday morning before church.
It’s been many years since we dyed eggs in the Cain household. But this year I thought it would be fun to try dying eggs with our now adult children! It was truly a simple pleasure that brought me deep joy. We had so much fun choosing our colors and seeing what each person did with their egg designs. It is a new Easter memory for me to treasure.
I pray that you will slow down in this Easter season to enjoy the simple pleasures. Spend time with family and friends, enjoy God’s creation, and see the joy in each sunrise and sunset. I hope this brings joy to your heart, as you celebrate the risen Christ this Easter season!
Alleluia! Pastor Andrea
