Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2
As I write, it is Wednesday, September 21, 2022 - World Gratitude Day! The celebrations of World Gratitude Day started in 1965 in Hawaii when an international gathering designated an annual day to formally express gratitude and appreciation for many wonderful things found in the world. It’s all about being thankful.
What great timing for a day of appreciation to arrive in the midst of these difficult times. I couldn’t resist this image of a heart and clouds together which brings together the Blessings Blog themes from the past few weeks! Are you watching for hearts and looking for hope in the clouds? In doing so, we are finding things to be grateful for in our lives. Gratitude is the antidote to selfishness and negativity which are in large supply these days.
A little bit of gratitude goes a long way. It is good for your health too. Gratitude brings a whole host of emotional and physical benefits. And when we’re feeling better, it’s easier for us to share gratitude with others. So I invite each of us to find at least one thing for which we are grateful each day and share it with someone. Write it down. Lift it up in prayer. Inscribe it on your heart. And show it in your smile. Gratitude will change the world and transform us into the loving and peaceful people God created us to be each day!
Grateful, Pastor Andrea
