For the word of God is alive and active. Hebrews 4:12a
Here is the 2022 Desert Cross Word Cloud. We didn’t have many words submitted so it’s smaller than last year. But the words that were submitted are inspiring, creative, and valuable. Thank you for participating in choosing the words that will guide us in 2022 as we find new ways to be church and to do mission in the world.
We will continue to listen to scripture and the Holy Spirit to guide us while our Word Cloud reflects our faith in action and the values that we glean from God’s word. As Hebrews reminds us, God’s word is alive and active. God’s word is a living word that speaks into our present reality and gives us hope for the future. Through our worship and study, we are guided into the ways that God is leading us to serve people and be church in new ways.
One of the new ways we will be church in 2022 is that Desert Cross will have 3 worship communities at our Gilbert campus. How awesome is that? We will have Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church who is practicing “church without walls” worship at 8am, then Desert Cross at 9:30, then the mission start Korean Presbyterian Church. God is indeed moving and working among us! There are many ways we can partner with these church communities to participate in each other’s mission and ministry as we come together to be stronger and combine our gifts to bring glory to God. We are thankful that God has brought us together and look forward to how we will work together in God’s service.
One way we are already partnering is a shared confirmation program. Pastor Brian from Spirit of Joy has partnered with Pastor Thadd, and we have a shared confirmation program so they alternate teaching our confirmation kids from each church together. There are many other opportunities to join together in these challenging times as we bring our varied gifts to be the body of Christ in a hurting world. Together we will navigate these times and figure out how the Spirit is blowing in 2022 guided by love and anchored by hope just like our Word Cloud. Notice that hope is the biggest word which means it was most chosen as we face the most difficult times we’ve ever seen. God is with us!
In Hope, Pastor Andrea
